Almost a year
I can't believe it has been almost a year since my last blog on this site. I am still trying to get comfortable with this site, but I am not there yet. I'll keep working on it.
I am making some art jewelry and 'recycled glass' art projects available for consumers - on the internet. So far, I have two websites I work with: www.grandviewstudio.artfire.com and www.grandviewstudio.etsy.com and I want to write about topics that relate to these sites. I have a blog on Artfire already but it would be cool to just have a general art blog. This blog seems to be connected to my personal profile and not my page so I probably did something wrong. Oh well. Signing off for today..

The first blog
The 'idea' for this blog developed years ago when we were shopping for hand made items that were hand crafted in the US. We really had a hard time figuring out where everything is made. At first, I wanted to use supplies that were only made in the US. Unfortunately, since we live in a global society, I guess materials can be made here and assembled there. It kind of muddies up the definition.
Also, I guess my problem is actually that I really like to use materials that I like, and that are made well. If I can't find it here, who cares whether it was made in Italy. The person selling it to me seems like an American company. So, at this point, I am going to try to use materials that were well crafted and not mass produced, and, as much as possible I will try to make as many of my supplies as I can.
